WHAT WE DO
The core of VPS Digital & Decarbonisation division is to provide our clients with unique insight to reduce operational footprint; create emissions transparency, reduce risk to people property and the environment, and industry collaboration. With our main software products:
Maress we provide data analytics and visualization, used by some of the most advanced vessel owners and leading energy companies in the world to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable energy future;
Our PortStats software and data services provide the industry with unrivalled insight into fuel quality around the world.
In parallel we also have a strong hardware offering with our EMSYS emissions measurement solutions, that accurately measure marine emissions.
We call it data-driven decarbonisation.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As our suite of products aimed at advising the maritime industry in their journey of sustainability, emissions reduction, fleet management and fuel intelligence, continues to expand; we have identified the need for a senior individual to both drive top-line growth and steer the commercial direction of the VPS global software and data products.
The role can be based in our Rotterdam or preferably our Houston office, alternatively fully remote in EU North Continent or USA will be considered. We require any applicant to currently have the right to live and work in his/her intended place of work. We will not support relocation nor provide visa sponsorship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for top line growth of Software and Data products.
- Lead the VPS Digital & Decarbonisation Software and Data focused Sales team,
- Prepare and carry out customer meetings with existing and potential customers in line with agreed targets.
- Conduct negotiations of contracts and agreements.
- Direction of day-to-day sales activities and longer-term business development and relevant marketing activities.
- Assure sales activities fall within budgetary cost constraint, as well as meeting revenue budgets and forecasts.
- Present at industry conferences and events.
- Present at VPS Customer seminars.
- Produce input for D&D budgets and forecasts.
- Maintain our outreach database (CRM) and produce input for our monthly commercial Steerco reporting.
- Strategic planning of sales activities to ensure continued growth and low client attrition — by funnelling leads in different maturity stages and maintaining high satisfaction with existing customers.
- Whenever required, engage with customers regarding payment of outstanding debts.
- Support the development a global G2M strategy and integrated business model for D&D suite of services.
- As a member of the Digital & Decarbonisation divisions management team, collaborate closely with the heads of the other business lines and departments, to jointly grow the business.
- Work closely with the larger VPS sales team on the testing side to jointly open doors, as well as proposing leads for them to follow up on in their regions.
- Global travel and frequent sales calls are expected.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A bachelor's or master's degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Sales.
- Minimum 2 years managing sales staff
- Excellent communications skills, written as well as verbal.
- Solid experience from either the maritime industry, or the oil/gas/renewable industry.
- Personal drive, and desire to build the business line.
- Experience in maritime software sales is preferred.
- Strong leadership capability
